History
The first mention of “Jean Faure” as a wine farm.
A lease was issued by the Jean Faure estate for the farming of 10 hectares (24.7 acres). At this time, Jean Faure functioned like a real village, making its living from mixed farming, with vines making up 17 hectares (42 acres) by the 17th century. This document enables us to place Château Jean Faure among the oldest estates of Saint Emilion.
Château Jean Faure regained its place in the Saint-Emilion classification thanks to the efforts of the Decelle family. A new chapter in the history of the estate had begun.
Château Jean Faure gained organic farming certification. Grand Cru Classé status and eco-friendly viticulture thus go harmoniously hand in hand.

With a previously arranged appointment, the Château Jean Faure team will be pleased to welcome visitors, Mondays to Saturdays, at any time of the year, and share with them the philosophy of a Grand Cru Classé with organic farming certification.
The organic and bio-dynamic vine-growing methods practised here for over fifteen years now constitute an ethical code. It is about sustaining the soils, preserving the land and protecting the living world to ensure a harmonious balance. A tour of the estate begins with a visit to the vineyard to discover the clay terroir and the Cabernet Franc, the emblematic grape variety of the estate (60%). The tour continues in the cellars and is rounded off with a tasting of the wines produced by the property.
