History
The Villemaurine name made its first appearance in this century. During this period, the Moors set up an entrenched camp called “Ville Maure”, a place which over time became Villemaurine.
Villemaurine now belonged to Antoine Limouzin, a local public figure and the first Clerk of the port of Libourne.
The Féret edition of that year mentions Villemaurine as a First Growth of Saint-Emilion under three different owners: Morange, Troquard and Pierre Jean.
It was now the turn of the Onclin family to write a new chapter in the history of Villemaurine. As a passionate wine enthusiast, a connoisseur thanks to his heritage, and having been a wine négociant eager to produce his own wines, Justin Onclin was immediately attracted by the extraordinary potential of Château Villemaurine.
Justin Onclin produced his first vintage of Château Villemaurine in this year.

Since 2010, Château Villemaurine has been offering personalised visits with 3 distinct themes to suit beginners in wine and connoisseurs and anyone who wishes to enrich their wine culture. Visiting Villemaurine is also stepping into Saint-Emilion’s rich historical heritage. “Come along and saunter through the estate’s vineyard on that famous limestone plateau which has given the great wines of Saint-Emilion their outstanding character.
Come and visit our technical facilities and also our monolithic cellar, where our wines age and develop over time. Come and explore the deep ancient underground quarries of Château Villemaurine.” The tour is rounded off with a tasting of the estate’s wines (Saint-Emilion Grand Cru and Grand Cru Classé).
