Château Bellefont-Belcier
Saint émilion grand cru
Created at the end of the 18th century, the Bellefont-Belcier estate is located in an ideal position on Saint-Emilion’s southern slope. Its name means “Beautiful fountain”, because of the numerous springs sheltered below the slope on which the vineyard is planted.

History
The FOUNDING of the estate
In this year Count Louis François de Belcier commissioned the building of the château in the centre of the Belle Fontaine estate’s vineyard. The high renown enjoyed by the vineyard in these early days was thanks to him.
MODERNITY
Pierre Faure then purchased the Château. He was a brilliant agricultural engineer and carried out a complete modernisation of the vine-growing methods. He also created the famous circular vat room, the showpiece of the estate.
AMBITION
In this year, substantial restructuring of the vineyard and refurbishing of the production facilities were carried out.
RECOGNITION
After years of painstaking efforts, Château Bellefont-Belcier was promoted to the rank of Grand Cru Classé.
REBIRTH
A programme to restore the Château was launched by Peter Kwok, in line with the ambitions of this pearl of an estate to join the appellation’s elite and consolidate its status as a Grand Cru Classé.
