Denise and Stephen Adams have worked tirelessly in reinvigorating the vineyard and renovating the production facilities. From the vine plants to the labels on the bottles, they have brought meticulous care and attention to the running of this authentic classified growth, not least in the area of hospitality, their concern for nature, the elegance of the wine, and in their innovation.

Château Fonplégade enjoys all the benefits of unique terroir, climate and soils. The vineyard covers 18.5 hectares (45.7 acres) and is made up of a patchwork of 27 plots carefully tended by hand. The work in the vines is not just carried out plot by plot, or row by row, but vine by vine.

Denise and Stephen Adams are proud to figure among the pioneers of organic farming on the legendary Right Bank of Bordeaux. For them, it is a privilege to have the responsibility of being custodians of this precious land and to preserve it for future generations.

In 2013, Château Fonplégade gained the Ecocert certification label for organic farming. Since 2017, it has been guided by consultant Corinne Comme in its conversion to bio-dynamic farming. The aim is to enhance the estate’s farming practices while caring for and revealing better all the riches of its terroir.

In collaboration with Stéphane Derenoncourt, the highly-reputed consultant winemaker, Château Fonplégade’s objective is to create a strong link between the vines and the cellars that will lead to wines that mirror the richness and specificity of the terroir.
